My roots along the Po River and the years spent abroad have allowed me to explore the world’s great waterways, observe unique ecosystems, and develop deep expertise in the pursuit of these immense and extraordinary fish. This is the heart of my journey and the value that guides every choice I make.
It is an endless challenge, a voyage between shadow and light, between patience and adrenaline: the ultimate luxury of those who dare to confront the unknown.
This website was born from the desire to shape and share the emotions that arise during fishing expeditions to remote places where nature alone reigns supreme. Its purpose is to continue inspiring emotion and to keep alive the dream that every angler carries within: the anticipation of catching the fish of a lifetime.
The magic, the adrenaline, and the hardships that do not always emerge in photographs remain forever etched in the mind of those who have truly lived them.
The achievement of the ultimate goal with the capture of the “Big Fish” is often the result of endless fishing sessions carried out in extreme conditions. And precisely because long waits are no guarantee of record catches, time becomes a luxury, and fishing becomes the luxury of life.
“Those who say it is impossible should not disturb those who are doing it.” (Albert Einstein)
Michele Poggi
I was born in Parma in 1969, on the banks of the Po River, where I learned that the most authentic luxury is invisible: the silence of the water, the light filtering through the mist, the slow rhythm of a river that is never in a hurry. And it is water itself that shaped my destiny: a primordial, wild, and persistent call that has never left me.
For over thirty years, I have lived between the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and, over the last ten years, Africa, guided by a passion for chemistry that became my profession. Along this journey, I have crossed oceans and boundless seas, traveled up legendary rivers, and immersed myself in the stillness of immense lakes, building an intimate relationship with water in all its forms. Every journey has been a refined exploration, a search for balance between knowledge and wonder, between science and awe, between technique and poetry.
I work as an engineer in a large company, but my true quest never stops: I am constantly engaged in the pursuit of the largest fish that inhabit rivers, seas, lakes, and every place where water safeguards life. Not only giants of the depths, but creatures with impossible colors, ancient and almost alien forms, endowed with extraordinary abilities: fish that breathe air like we do, that survive outside water, or that wait for the rains while living for years on their own reserves. In them, I recognize the essence of nature: powerful, fragile, mysterious. An extreme elegance.
